Coriander rice / Kothamalli Rice / கொத்தமல்லி சாதம்

 Coriander rice / Kothamalli Rice / கொத்தமல்லி சாதம் 


Serves : 3 

Preparation time: 30 minutes 

Cooking time: 30 minutes 


Ingredients : 

1 cup basmati rice 

1 onion sliced 

1 tomato chopped 

1 cinnamon 

2 green cardamom 

3 cloves 

1/4 tsp turmeric 

1 tsp garam masala powder 

Salt 

2 tsp oil 


For the green paste : 

1 cup coriander leaves 

1/2 onion chopped 

2 green chili 

4 cloves 

2 tsp grated coconut 



Method : 

1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes 

2. In a blender jar, add ingredients for green paste and 1/4 cup water 

3. Grind into a fine paste 

4. In a pressure cooker, add 2 tsp oil and cinnamon, green cardamom, and cloves 

5. Add sliced onion and roast for 2 minutes on medium flame 

6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook 

7. Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder 

8. Mix well 

9. Add the green paste and mix well 

10. Cook for 2 minutes and add 1.5 cups of water 

11. Bring to boil and add soaked rice 

12. Pressure cook for 12 minutes on medium flame 

13. Serve hot
