BEETROOT PATTANI ROAST / DRY BEETROOT PEAS CURRY

This recipe is similar to the most famous Urulai Pattani Roast. This curry goes very well with variety rice or chapati/roti too. Easy to prepare and delicious.

Ingredients : 


  • 1 Beetroot Diced 
  • 1 Cup Green Peas 
  • 1 Onion Chopped 
  • 1 Tomato Chopped 
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger Chopped 
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Chopped 
  • 4 Green Chill 
  • 1 Tablespoon Chilli Powder 
  • 1/2 tablespoon Coriander Powder 
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder 
  • 1/4 Tablespoon Garam Masala Powder 
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Fennel Seeds 
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds 
  • Curry Leaves 
  • 2 Tablespoon Coconut Oil 
  • Salt to Taste

Step By Step Picture Instructions : 


  1. Cook diced beetroot with salt and keep aside 
  2. In a pan, heat coconut oil 
  3. Add Mustard seeds, fennel seeds and curry leaves, let it splutter. 
  4. Add slit green chilli, ginger and garlic, and roast for a couple of minutes 
  5. Add chopped onions and fry well till its brown
  6. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt 
  7. Saute for a minute
  8. Add chopped tomatoes and roast for a minute (Don't mash it)  


  9. Add green peas and mix well 
  10. Add cooked beetroot 
  11. Roast for 5 minutes on medium flame  
  12. Serve hot
